Artisan Group: Sadhna

Sadhna was founded to empower women economically and financially. Fifteen women in Udaipur, India came together to form a fair trade cooperative. Now it employs over 600 artisans. Each woman owns a part of the cooperative and together they make key business decisions. They elect managers to lead and implement daily functions of the cooperative.

Women work both at headquarters and in their homes, to create beautifully handcrafted textiles. Handmade home décor has a rich tradition in India. Women are able to preserve cultural art forms through their work and gain fulfillment through fair trade.
